Heinz Trox Promotion Prize

Since 2018, the Heinz Trox Foundation has been providing € 500,000, spread over 5 years, to support universities of applied sciences in Germany that focus on issues of air conditioning and ventilation technology.

In addition, prizes amounting to 3,333 euros are awarded for special final theses - and these were presented for the first time at this year's ISH in Frankfurt am Main at a ceremony attended by Prof. Dr. Hans Fleisch, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Heinz Trox Foundation, and Paul Schwarz, Chairman of the Board of Directors.

Erik Alves from the Westfälische Hochschule Gelsenkirchen, Bocholt, Recklinghausen, was presented with a prize for his final thesis entitled "Orthogonally positioned rotary heat exchangers in air conditioning systems". Lucas Schiffhauer from the Esslingen University of Applied Sciences received a prize for his reflections on the subject of "Ventilation and air conditioning units and geothermal energy", Paul Freund from the Beuth University of Applied Sciences in Berlin for his theoretical consideration of different frost protection strategies in the ventilation sector.

"All three theses have a direct practical reference and show very interesting research approaches that are significant for the entire industry," says Univ.-Prof. Dr.-Ing. Dirk Müller, RWTH Aachen University, head of institute at E.ON ERC and member of the prize jury.

The Heinz Trox Foundation is an expression of the life's work of its founder Heinz Trox. The purpose of the foundation is to promote scientific activities in the field of air conditioning and ventilation technology and to support social and cultural activities.
